Q&A with client Berlinda Hall

Tell me about yourself…
I’m a Mum, a wife and I work 5 days a week.  My hobby is endurance sports, which I love.  I try to live a mostly healthy and a balanced life.

How long had you contemplated seeing a nutritionist before you decided to go?
A while. I wasn’t feeling great and energy levels were regularly low and I was tired a lot.

What were the catalysts for you first making that initial appointment…?
Feeling extremely tired and low in energy.

Did you find making changes to your diet difficult?
Some things were hard e.g. I love bread but I have an intolerance to wheat so I need to have gluten free bread and products. I eat mostly healthy and feel best when I eat good clean foods.

Did you have to change your lifestyle to fit with changes?
No not much.

Was testing a useful tool in your progression of treatment?
Yes because I could see if I was making progress and what was working and what wasn’t.

Were there tough times along the way in your journey?
Definitely but I had to remind myself why I made the changes I did.

What has continued to motivate you to keep going?
My health. I have felt so much better and have had lots of energy and not as tired. It’s a lot easier to get up early in the morning to train before work.

How has the nutritional consultations helped you continue to stay on your health journey?
I felt great support from Tara so regular visits kept me on track to reach my goal.

Do you feel supported in your health?
Yes, I feel very supported.

What advice would you give to others in similar situations as you?
Get help! I have had health issues for a long time and wasn’t sure what was causing them. Tara helped me find that I had a lot of food intolerances and eliminating certain foods made me feel a lot better.

How has your life changed since that initial nutritional appointment?
My life has changed a lot. Tara helped me find what was causing my health issues and by eliminating certain foods, my life changed so much for the better. Now I feel like I can live life to the full.

What confuses you about nutrition?
Why certain foods, even though they maybe vegetables or fruits, can cause health issues.

Do you believe that the changes you have made will make a difference in the future?
Absolutely, I feel like I can live life to the full!

What are your future goals?
Endurance events, long distance running races and triathlons. Continue to stick to healthy diet that suits my body.

Anything else you would like to share?
I am so grateful for all Tara’s help, it has truly changed my life so much for the better.
